INCOMPATIBILITY: Material does not mix or dilute well with water.

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Thermal decomposition can yield CO, CO2.

HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Excessive heat and ignition sources such as flames or sparks. Storage above 100° F. Exposure to moisture.

HEALTH HAZARD DATA

KNOWN HAZARDS: Acute: Eye and skin irritation. Central nervous system (CNS) depressant.. Chronic: Prolonged and repeated inhalation of vapors including intentional abuse can lead to damage to the brain and nervous system..

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Eye, skin and respiratory irritation. Can have an anesthetic effect if inhaled. Headache, dizziness, staggering, confusion, unconsciousness or coma can occur from repeated or intentional inhalation of a high concentration of vapors.

CARCINOGENICITY: IARC classifies crystalline silica as a Gp IIA carcinogen based upon inhalation of respirable dust. This product does not pose a dust hazard; therefore, this classification is not applicable.

PRIMARY ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: Dermal. Inhalation

MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Eye, skin, and respiratory conditions.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES

EYES: Immediately flush with plenty of water. Call a physician.

SKIN: Wash with soap and water. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.

INHALATION: Move victim to fresh air. Give oxygen and/or artificial respiration if needed. Call a physician.

INGESTION: Give plenty of water to drink. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Seek medical attention. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to by a physician.

OTHER: Referral to a physician is recommended if there is any question about the seriousness of the injury/exposure.

CONTROL MEASURES AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

VENTILATION: Natural or mechanically induced fresh air movements are necessary to maintain vapor concentrations below recommended exposure and/or flammable limits.

EYE PROTECTION: Not normally required, however, safety glasses should be worn in most industrial settings.

SKIN PROTECTION: Gloves recommended (cotton gloves are adequate).

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Not normally required when adequate ventilation is maintained as described above. Use a NIOSH-approved organic vapor respirator when vapor concentrations exceed recommended exposure limits. Never enter a confined space without an appropriate air-supplied respirator.

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE

HANDLING AND STORING PRECAUTIONS: Extremely flammable. Keep away from ignition sources such as heat, sparks, and flame. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling.

SPILL PROCEDURES: Remove all sources of ignition. Scoop up and place in a container for proper disposal. Not soluble in water. Excess spillage can be removed by wiping with mineral spirits.
